SPRAY TAN PREP

  • SHAVE + EXFOLIATE.

12-24HRS prior, be sure to shave all unwanted hair with a non meisture strip razor.

Exfoliate head to toe using a proper exfoliating mitt the night before your appointment. Exfoliating is the key to a great tan and even more imperative if you have an existing sunless tan. If you have pre existing sunless tanner consider picking up a bottle of our Blank Canvas and Exfoliating Mitt to remove your tan prior to your appointment. Tanning over existing tan is like painting over chipped nail polish, the results are blotchy and uneven.

  • NO PRODUCTS.

Skip out on the lotions, deodorants, oils, makeup and fragrances the day of your tan. These products can all create a barrier between your skin and the DHA resulting in an uneven tan, green armpits, and blotchiness.

In addition to the product topic, discontinue any use of Dove, Olay, or any products with parabens, sulfates or heavy fragrances as these create build up and dryness in the skin and can result in uneven tans.

  • WASH YOUR HAIR.

Make sure to wash your hair prior to your appointment (or plan out your hair washing schedule) as to avoid washing your hair during your first rinse. Ingredients in shampoo + conditioner can interfere with development of your sunless tan.

  • BEAUTY ROUTINE.

Your spray tan is literally the cherry on top, it should always be your last beauty service done. Book all lash, waxing, nails etc. at least 24 hours prior to your tan appointment.

Any services post tan application will effect affect application, longevity, fade and color intensity in certain areas.

If needed we recommend our Smoke & Mirrors tanning water and Straight Up tanning mousse for touch ups.

  • PLAN YOUR DAY ACCORDINGLY.

We get it... Your world doesn't stop spinning because you're getting a spray tan hence why we use the lightest weight solutions with a non-stick drying powder to allow you to get on about your life... But, please plan on wearing loose dark clothing, no exposure to water (cooking/washing dishes/bathing kids) and no heavy sweating for 24 HRS.

  • WHAT DO I WEAR?

As long as you are comfortable and you get the tan you desire we don't mind what you wear. Bikini, bra, thong, naked... we don't care! All our male clients we do ask you wear some form of bottoms. Non negotiable!

Post spray appointment we recommend dark clothing, long loose sleeves and pants. You want to avoid any skin on skin contact to avoid transfer. No bras, leggings, jeans, tight sneakers etc. If planning to sleep in your tan always wear long sleeves and pants to avoid sleeping on palms.

Keep in mind our New England weather. If raining or snowing please be mindful of being fully covered and protected from percipitation. Same goes for summer heat, make your car super cold to return to, wear bottoms that will protect you from your car seat and avoid skin on skin contact.

SPRAY TAN AFTERCARE

  • IMMEDIATELY AFTER.

You just got a fresh tan so NO touching your skin! Avoid sweating & liquids to ensure a flawless development. Please set a reminder for your designated rinse time listed below. Be sure to wear long loose clothing to avoid skin on skin contact. Also, unfortunately, no pet's licks.

  • INITIAL RINSE.

The given rinse time is not a suggestion. With ONLY water & your hands, gently massage your bronzer guide until the water runs clear. After 3-5 minutes pat yourself dry. This time mark is to deactivate the processing so your tan creates the desired color & depth discussed at your consultation. Your tan will not be fully developed at this time, you will see color development finish in 12-24 hours.

  • FIRST 24 HRS.

In this time frame our tan is still developing to its full color. With that said, we want to avoid sweating, swimming and shaving. Any showering in this time must avoid any soaps, lotion, etc to not affect the color. A quick pits & privates wash may be done, if needed, but rinse well. Put off shaving until the 24HRS is up.

  • SHOWERING.

Take the time to adjust your showering routine slightly by turning down the temperature & taking quicker showers. Discontinue use of any exfoliating products, loofahs and always pat dry. When shaving opt for a new razor blade without any moisture strips. Avoid any soaking until you wish to remove your sunless tan.

  • DAILY ACTIVITIES.

Hydrate as much as possible & moisturize twice a day. Dusting our SIGNATURE DRYING POWDER in sports bras & waist bands will cut down friction during workouts. After exercise, rinse off asap. When swimming, we recommend a waterproof lotion mineral sunscreen, we love our BLOCKED SPF 30! Always maintain reapplication to avoid burning and to keep ta protected from chlorine & saltwater. Keep water activities to quicker dips, avoid soaking and always pat dry, rinse after ocean & pool activities and remoisturize.

  • PRODUCTS.

What you're using on your skin will directly affect the longevity of your tan. We suggest avoiding parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, petroleum by products, fragrances & alcohols. Clean ingredients will better care for your skin and tan's life. We offer our full SUNLESS SOCIETY SKIN collection of spray tan safe products in studio & online. Specifically formulated spray tan safe products will maximize the life and appearance your tan.

Using your Vitamin Booster gel on your teeth an gums for 20 minutes at night will also help with sensitivity.

  • BRUSHING.

For the first 24-48 HRS be gentle while brushing or flossing. Opt for soft bristle toothbrush and take your time, especially near the gums. Switch to a white colored tooth paste as any colored gels in the paste can influence future stains.
